Hours Per Week: 40
Shift Patterns Associated with Role: Monday to Friday (NB/ Occasional weekend work required, time in lieu will be given)
Travel Required: Yes, to other sites as and when required. Fuel can be claimed back via internal expenses policy at the statutory rate per mile.
Location: Barrow-in-Furness, Manchester or Guildford
Department: Laboratory Services (inc Logistics, Data, Customer Services)


Purpose of the Role

Your role as a Logistics Manager is to organise the storage and distribution of goods. You’ll ensure that the right products are delivered to the right location on time. You will also oversee the Fleet function and the management of our Driver Team.

Key Accountabilities

  • Coordinating drivers, vehicles, loads, and journeys
  • Ensure movement of samples as required by the business
  • Ensure movement of stock as required by the business by working with the Supply Chain Team
  • Analysing data to assess performance, discover logistical problems, and devise plans for improvements
  • Organise and manage the postal services
  • Work collaboratively with the data management team to manage customer documentation being used
  • Liaise with account managers to manage product being sent out
  • Liaise with kit manufacturers to manage large orders
  • Liaise with customer services to ensure reliable and accurate delivery of orders
  • Ensuring health and safety compliance within your remit and the standards of your team align with company values and SOPs
  • Preparing paperwork for the relevant recipients
