Chief Financial Officer

Shift Patterns Associated with Role: Monday to Friday
Travel Required: Travel to Laboratories as required
Location: Can be based in Carlisle, Manchester or Barrow
Department: Executive

Purpose of the Role

The Chief Finance Officer will take a leadership role in financial decision-making that affects the company and will provide strategic input to grow the business. While keenly overseeing the overall accounting process, the successful CFO will play a key role in developing and implementing financial procedures to maintain and improve the financial health of the organisation to meet customer demands and drive rapid yet sustainable growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • Work collaboratively with the senior management team and the board to develop and execute the company’s financial strategy
  • Lead the finance function to develop, embed and manage Accounting and Financial Control, Financial Planning & Analysis, Regulatory Reporting and Tax including the systems, people and processes to do so.
  • Drive a transparent and company-wide budgeting process establishing annual financial company goals that align with the plans for growth and expansion
  • Ensure full transparency over the company’s financial performance and provide clear reporting to key stakeholders
  • Support the development the company strategic direction and provide advice on how to increase revenue and reduce costs
  • Effectively and clearly communicate potential risks in a timely manner as well as pragmatic mitigation
  • Propose action plans to ensure that annual financial objectives are attained
  • Support the CEO with the preparation of monthly and annual financial plans and reporting to the board
  • Maintain speed and accuracy of billings and client payments

Essential Experience / Qualifications

  • Strategic and operational financial experience within a high growth and regulatory environment
  • Strong technical skills to understand and design the financial system infrastructure
  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or other business-related subjects
  • Qualified Accountant
  • Understanding of working towards and maintaining ISO accreditations
